Login Guidelines

General Practices and Guidelines

  • Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the user ID and password as stated in the Assurant User Agreement. If someone suspects that his or her password has become known to anyone other than the individual to which it is assigned, it should be changed immediately.
  • User ID will be disabled after one (1) year of inactivity. Make sure you access your account at least once per year.

User ID Practices and Guidelines

  • 7 to 30 characters. Acceptable characters are
    a – z, A – Z and 0 – 9.
  • User ID's are not case sensitive.
  • Choose a user ID which will be easily remembered, e.g., a user ID you have used for other access or the first portion of your e-mail address.

Password Practices and Guidelines

  • 8 to 30 characters (requiring at least one alpha and one numeric). Acceptable characters are
    a – z, A – Z and 0 – 9.
  • Passwords are case sensitive.
  • Select a password which will be easily remembered.
  • Don't use more than one set of repeating characters, e.g., aa, bb, cc, 11.
  • Don't use the same password as your user ID, they should be completely different.
  • Don't use something readily identifiable which may be traced directly to you, e.g., birthdays, names, social security number, phone number, address, etc.
  • Don't use letters or numbers that are near each other on the keyboard or appear in logical sequence, e.g., asdfghjkl or 12345678.
  • Don't use a single word which can be found in the dictionary.
  • Don't ever share your password with anyone.
