Liability Insurance Protects Everyone - Even Your Neighbor.

The reason most communities implement a liability insurance requirement as part of the lease agreement is to ensure that damage to a unit caused by a resident’s negligence are covered as a result of:

          • Fire
          • Smoke
          • Explosion
          • Water Damage**

In addition, the liability policy protects you by paying for damage to another resident’s property if you are at fault.

Imagine if your neighbor starts a kitchen fire after experimenting with a new recipe. The fire damages his apartment, but it also spills over into yours, damaging the unit, your couch, dining furniture and rug. This happens in apartment communities just like yours every day. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, there are 95,500 apartment fires in high-rise communities every year.*

In addition, if you are liable this policy also covers medical payment to others and property damage to others.

** In NC, water damage is currently not covered in the liability coverage section of the Renters Insurance policy.
